R1 billion to repair fire-ravaged National Assembly, if it can even be saved – original architect – News24

The architect of the National Assembly wing of the parliamentary complex in Cape Town, Jack Van Der Lecq, believes it could cost up to R1 billion to repair the gutted building.
The National Assembly was completed in 1988 and included the use of rare materials, such as indigenous yellowwood, marble and granite, which were imported from Italy.
